The Oregon Coast is magnificent with its rocky coastline, brilliant sunrises and sunsets, lighthouses, tidepools, harbor boats, bridges, and coastal rainforest; the variety is nearly endless. This 7-day workshop will be an exploration of how our senses and perception affect what and how we photograph and how to improve your awareness using your senses. We will photograph primarily in the beautiful and amazing central Oregon coast around Depoe Bay and Newport, including the Yaquina Head lighthouse, Yaquina Bay bridge and Newport harbor, with excursions north to Cascade Head and south to Heceta Head and points in between. We'll explore using our senses and perception along with camera technique to make better photographs. At most locations we will start later and end after sunset but may venture out for a sunrise or two, and will have plenty of time to explore and find hidden gems.
The Oregon coast is perfect for practice and exploration with long exposure, time lapse, low light and night photography, and HDR. I'll cover any or all of these techniques if there is interest.
Some trails to the beaches are moderately steep to steep and footing is uneven, sandy, and/or slick both on trails and beaches (rocks) You should be able to negotiate this type of terrain to get the most from this trip. If you have questions, please contact me prior to registering for this trip. There is a minimum of 5 for this workshop and a maximum of 10.
