Monterey and Point Lobos are the stomping grounds of Edward Weston, Ansel Adams, Wyn Bullock, John Steinbeck, and other famous and not-so-famous artists. The surf-tossed rocky coast with its edges worn away, revealing multi-colored layers. Twisted cyprus trees withstanding the onslaught of Pacific winds add to the mythical appearance of the landscape.
During the workshop we'll spend four full days exploring Point Lobos State Natural Reserve and the Big Sur coast. The afternoon of the arrival day on the 31st and the morning of the departure day on the 5th will give us opportunities to explore Old Town and the wharf.
The nearest airport is San Jose (SJC), about a 1.5 hour drive. San Francisco (SFO) is a 2 hour drive, and it's 3 hours from Fresno (FAT). We'll explore using our senses and perception along with camera technique to make better photographs
At most locations we will have the opportunity for both sunrise and sunset as well as plenty of time to explore and find hidden gems.
Some trails to the beaches are moderately steep to steep and footing is uneven, sandy, and/or slick both on trails and beaches (rocks) You should be able to negotiate this type of terrain to get the most from this trip. If you have questions, please contact me prior to registering for this trip. There is a minimum of 4 for this workshop and a maximum of 10.
