Details
The Oregon Coast is magnificent with its rocky coastline, brilliant sunrises and sunsets, lighthouses, tidepools, harbor boats, bridges, and coastal rainforest; the variety is nearly endless.
The workshop will be based in Newport or Depoe Bay, OR. Nearest airports are Portland and Eugene. Our accommodation will be a home rental with shared meals. From our base we will photograph in and around Depoe Bay, Yaquina Head and lighthouse, Yaquina harbor and bridge, Seal Rock, Otter Rock, Cape Perpetua and Heceta Head lighthouse, among others. I'll work with you to explore using your senses and perception along with camera technique to expand and improve technique and awareness to make better photographs. I'll help you with composition, understanding the Exposure Equation, the best way to use the histogram, understanding white balance, using filters, as well as creative techniques like long exposure, time lapse, off-camera flash, and in-camera manipulations. The goal is for you to become more familiar with, and more skilled at, your own shooting preference, and to help you discover what that may be.
Transportation is available from Portland if arrival schedules can be coordinated, otherwise participants will need to provide their own transportation to the workshop location. We'll meet in the afternoon of May 8 for an afternoon and evening shoot. We'll end in the early afternoon on the 14th.
